Grey Pansy Butterfly –  Junonia atlites

The grey pansy is a tropical butterfly found in Sri Lanka with a wingspan of 55-65mm. Insects in the genus, described by Jacob Habner in 1819, are commonly known as Buckeyes, Pansies, or Commodores. This genus flies on every continent except Antarctica, and contains about 30-35 species.

Order Lepidoptera, which contains both butterflies and moths, includes at least 125,000 known species including 12,000 in North America. Butterflies are revered for their brightly colored wings and pleasing association with fair weather and flowers.
