Jewelweed
Family: Balsaminaceae (Balsam) / Habitat: Moist shady areas / Height: 2-5 feet / Flower size: 1 to 1/2 inches long Flower color: Orange / Bloom time: July to September. Jewelweed is native to North America.

The ripe seedpods pop open at a gentle touch, hence the common name touch-me-not. This is one of my favorite flowers - the brilliant orange is even more striking, being most often found in deep shade.
